Bullet Journaling for Your Wedding

the how Nov 17, 2021

I am a triple Virgo (for those of you who know what that means), which comes with a deep and natural love of office supplies and organizational systems.

But when I left the corporate world and bought my own business, nothing seemed to keep my head above water. I was always a workaholic with plenty of ambition to succeed at work as well as life, so I thought any challenge was solvable with elbow grease and grit.

Becoming an entrepreneur smashed that lovely idea because, as so many small business owners learn the hard way, growing a business into something larger than yourself is more difficult, more overwhelming, and more confusing than anything I could imagine.

I believe this feels similar to how so many smart, capable and confident couples feel when they realize that planning a party in honor of their union can upend their lives in the most dull and insidious ways, making them miserable for months and wishing only for the wedding to be over with.

So I don't say this lightly...

If you are a highly capable and organized person who believes that planning a wedding will be somehow easier for you than all those "other" couples who aren't as creative, as organized, or as ambitious as you......

YOU

NEED

BULLET JOURNALING.

The Bullet Journal is the creation of Ryder Carroll, who suffered from Attention Deficit Disorder until he figured out a way to organize his mind and his life.

The Bullet Journal allowed him to dream and doodle and take class notes and make to-do lists and whatever else he needed to write down without ending up with a useless mess.

And then, Carroll did something remarkable. He invited the world to make the Bullet Journal their own. So while he is the creator of the method, millions of people contribute their own hacks, tips and ideas for customizing a Bullet Journal for your own needs.

At it's heart, his method is "the mindfulness practice disguised as a productivity system"*. It reminds you not to focus on the "what", so much as the "why", which could not be more perfect for planning a wedding. Because the quicksand that most couples fall into is the belief that this party must have all the bells and whistles and customized details and pageantry of every other wedding they've been to. And they lose sight, astonishingly quickly, of the why behind the event. So every single detail starts to seem important, and soon there is simply too much to do in too little time.

To this day, no other organizational system cuts through the overwhelm like the Bullet Journal. And I recommend it to every couple I work with.

It's up to you, of course, to decide if you want to take the time to learn a new way of organizing yourself. But the only better way I know of to plan your wedding without significant stress is to hire a full-service wedding planner to do all the work for you over the course of a year so that you can enjoy the fun parts without suffering from the endless monotony that sneaks up on most couples.

Bullet Journaling changed my life. For real. And I can't imagine it wouldn't change yours.

For those of you in The Epic Wedding Masterclass, we walk you through how we recommend you use the system. But anyone can reap the riches of this toolset by reading Carroll's book, The Bullet Journal Method, and researching the countless contributions by the public on ways to make the method yours.

To get started, go to https://bulletjournal.com. As of November 2021 they are offering the first 2 chapters of Carroll's book for joining their mailing list. Or join us in The Epic Wedding Masterclass, and see how we've adapted it for wedding planning couples.
